What does lightning do to people?

We have to be careful with the electrical storms .
When it happens, you musn't be under a tree, in front of an animal,  be in contact with water (in a swiming pool, sea, in the bath...) Don't take electrical objects (a phone,a hairdryer...) and don't be alone in the country.

the thing you can do for be save is to look for a building or a shelter with a lightning rod.

damage to human body:
Lightning affects the many electrochemical systems in the body. People struck by lightning can suffer from:
  •  nerve damage
  •  memory loss
  •  personality change
  •  emotional problems.

Lightning

a lighting is an atmospheric electrical  discharge accompanied by thunder, usually associated and produced by cumulonimbus clouds, but also during volcanic eruptions or in dust storms.A lightning can travel at speed of  220,000 km/h and can have a temperature of about 30,000 ºC. There are more than 16 million lightning storms in the world every year.Lightning causes ionisation in the air through which it travels, leading to the formation of nitric oxide and ultimately, nitric acid, of benefit to plant life below.
Lightning can also occur within the ash clouds from volcanic eruptions or can be caused by violent forest fires which generate sufficient dust to create a static charge.
How lightning initially forms is still a matter of debate. Scientists have studied root causes ranging from atmospheric perturbations (wind, humidity, friction, and atmospheric preassure) to the impact of solar wind and accumulation of charged solar particles.Ice inside a cloud is thought to be a key element in lightning development, and may cause a forcible separation of positive and negative charges within the cloud, thus assisting in the formation of lightning.

Lighting rods

lightning rods.

It is a metallic object mounted on top of a building. If a lightning falls to a building, with the lightning rod the lightning passes through the building and it doesn't produce damages. Lightning rods are called finials, air terminals or strike termination devices.
Lightning rods were invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1749 in the Americas, and independently by Prokop Divis in 1754 in Europe.
Historical understanding of lightning, from statements made by Ben Franklin, assumed that each lightning rod protected a cone of 45 degrees. This has been found to be unsatisfactory for protecting taller structures, as it is possible for lightning to strike the side of a building.
